NEW ZEALAND
We have gotten
a great house here in Tauranga, just by Mount Maunganui. (see
pictures here) This is by the main beach here and it was
always our Baddi's goal to get something like this by or close to the
beach. We however never expected anything as this. The house is on 3
floors with an elevator. It is fully furnished so we only had to move.
The school arranged a schedule for the first days, including a
walk around Mt. Maungaui where we got the story of when and how Maoris
came to the Island and a welcome lunch at the school. Still we are here
only at a tourist visa for 3 months but we hope to arrange that in the
next few weeks. I can only say that this place is like a dream to me.
Things can not possible be better than they are and who knows, I might
even stay longer here than planned.

THE REST OF THE
TRIP
Finally I give
my self some time to write about the rest of the trip down to New
Zealand. Last time I wrote we where going to see some of Hollywood and
surroundings with a Palli, a friend of mine in LA. We went to see the
incredible houses in the hills. Manu of them had only very small part of
them on ground but the rest on some stilks. úffff. Of course we also went
to Beverly Hills, up to the Hollywood sign and looking at the hand &
footprints. In the evening we flew to Fiji, more that 11 hours flight,
but where lucky enough to sleep most of the way. First 2 days we stayed
in Nadi, one of the bigger towns there. we lived as kings on a good
hotel, getting served by the waiters with Pinacoladas into the swimming
pool. Of course we caught a storm during our stay but that is very usual
for us. On second day we went to Beachcomber, a small island about 25
minutes sailing from the main island. It was of course a great stay where
almost nothing was done during our 4 days there. I though went
para-sailing and did some mini golf. I tried snorkeling but found it
rather difficult to get used to breathing with my mouth.
Finally we are
here in New Zealand after 3 weeks of travel. This trip has been so great
that it can not be replaced for anything. We have now completed half of
our mission to travel around the world. The second part will be done
next year trough Australia and Asia, but the locations and way of
traveling has not been decided yet.

Finally we are
on our way to Fiji. We have been looking around LA and Vegas for the past
days. I will write better about it later as the time is not much. We are
now on the way to look at Hollywood as our flight does not leave until
late tonight. There are allot of pictures at
Baddis
homepage I will link to it here as there is not time to make my own
now. I will promise to do it when I get down to New Zealand. Until then
have fun. I know that we will.

CITY OF ANGELS -
LOS ANGELES
We are in Los
Angeles at the moment. We had some problems as our travel arrangements
failed. We had to give up a fake address to get into USA again and when we
landed in LA we had no idea what to do. However things always brighten up
and a friend of mine Einar, which is a fan of Fylkir my soccer team also,
fixed us up with a hotel and showed us some bars. We are now going to rent
a car and will drive trough the desert to Las Vegas where we will spend 3
nights looking around. We will then come back to LA on Saturday as Einar
is going to have a barbeque for us along with some other people. More

CANADA
Our stay in
Canada has been great so far. We have been staying at Baddi's sister,
Thora and her husband, Jón Thor. We have been relaxing in a way and have
gotten great food during our stay. Among others we went to Yarmouth's
discotheque and it was different from many other places. I dressed up with
a great leather hat which usually would not fit into any discotheque but it
seemed to fit very well into the fashion there. The newest cloths fashion
is at liest not an high issue. The highlight of our trip here in Canada
has without no doubt been our fishing trip. We went yesterday out to catch
lobster, and then I mean gigantic lobsters. It was a great experience
which I would not have wanted to miss. We took part in all the process on
board, preparing the lobster for selling and putting the bate in the
traps. You can see this on the pictures I have added into my
picture site. I would like to
thank the 3 brothers on the boat, Adrian, John and Jeremy for allowing us
to participate in this great tour. It will never be forgotten. Of course we
cooked some of the lobster during the evening alive and the pleasure of
eating it was much greater as we did the whole process our selves.
Now we are
leaving for Halifax where we will spend half of the night as we will be
flying away to Toronto and LA very early in the morning. We do not know if
we get some internet connection there but we will try to update the site

NEW YORK, NEW
YORK
Finally we
managed to update our home pages. We have been a b it lost in the world
be course of this 110 volt system. Therefore we have not been able to work
in our computers.
Anyway, the
first part of our trip is finished and it was a great experience. New York
City has changed very much after 9/11 attacks. Security is enormous and
e.g. are 2 helicopters in the air watching out for Ground Zero and the
Statue of Liberty. We sailed out to see The Statue and I think that we have
never had such a great security before, not even at airports. Everything
was scanned and we almost had to strip for the guards. Of course that was
not a great problem as my guard was a beautiful young girl. uuuhhaaaaaa.
Also in the bigger stores in NY you are search before you enter.
We walked a lot
in those 3 days we stayed in NY. Of course we saw a lot of interesting
buildings and among other things we looked at was Ground Zero. It came as a
surprise to us the method of building those sky towers. When the steel
frame has been erected the make timber forms around them and insitu cast
with concrete. After that they insitu cast the walls with concrete. We
have not yet found out why they do this but if anyone knows, please write
it here under comments.
In many ways we
have been noticed on several places in the city that never sleeps as we
have been taking pictures of us on know places in sweaters in bright
colors and logos of our soccer teams in Iceland. Of course my sweater
looks much better that the yellow one.
For the rest of
our stay in NY we refer to our pictures at my picture site. |
